Course overview

The Scrum Development Team – Essentials course is a 2-day course designed to support Development Team members in their professional development. This concept course is developed for Development Team members by Scrum Facilitators in collaboration with

Whether you are a Developer, Tester, Architect, Analyst, UX Designer, Marketeer, Researcher etc., Scrum recognizes no titles for Development Team members, regardless of the work being performed by the person. Scrum also recognizes no sub-teams in the Development Team, regardless of domains that need to be addressed like testing, architecture, operations, or business analysis. Individual Development Team members may have specialized skills and areas of focus, but accountability belongs to the Development Team as a whole.

The Scrum Development Team – Essentials is an essential course to help you explore the attitude, behaviour, and mindset to become a professional member of the Development Team and a change influencer.

What you will learn

Over the two days, you will explore areas that are critical to growing as a successful Development Team member. Knowing Scrum is not the same as understanding it. That is why we will be deep-diving into the framework and explore the values and principles to start living Scrum. This approach is vital as the remaining topics will be focussing on mindset, attitude and behaviour. Not only inwards, but also towards others such as other Development Team members, Scrum Master, Product Owner and everyone outside the team. It is not only the Scrum Master, but everyone can help change the environment of Scrum Teams, creating an environment for agility to thrive.

This is the course where everything comes together. Scrum, people, flow, leadership, mindset, coaching and lessons learned. Together we will be exploring the key patterns of becoming a great Development Team member.

Scrum is not only for software

Over the years, Scrum has become lighter. Prescriptions, situational practices and practices were gradually removed from the official definition of Scrum as documented in the Scrum Guide. Scrum turned into the framework it was always designed to be. This course is created with the knowledge that Scrum has evolved outside Software Development. Therefore, this course is domain agnostic, and it will not cover domain-specific practices.

This course will not be covering object-oriented programming or the usage of technical practices such as Pair-programming, TDD, BDD, CI/CD etc. Yes, Technical Excellence is very important, but it is one of the many aspects of becoming a professional Development Team member.

We believe that technical excellence is embedded in your profession and trust that is it a part of your craftmanship.

Who should attend?

Whether you’re a Software Developer, Tester, QA, Architect, UX Designer, Financial Officer, Marketeer, Researcher, Doctors, etc., this course is perfect for everyone working with Scrum and is part of a team (Development Team member) that is responsible for creating a “product”.
